2026 MHSHL Draft Information and Clarification For Michigan-based players

We’ve received a lot of questions about player options and the upcoming MHSHL draft — so here’s everything you need to know.
The April 21 draft will proceed as planned for Indiana-based players. For Michigan-based players, a separate draft opportunity will be held to ensure every player who wants to play in MHSHL has a clear path forward.
If you’re still evaluating options, that’s completely fine. Our goal is to provide a structured, transparent process with opportunities for all players.

The Michiana High School Hockey League Draft has been scheduled for April 21 at the Ice Box.
If you’re an incoming Indiana high school player not assigned to Penn, St. Joseph, Marian, Riley, or Adams via school enrollment, this is your path into MHSHL hockey.
Note: The draft is for Indiana-based players only. If you reside in the LSJ district (SW Michigan), you will try out with them instead.

MHSHL Hosting Incoming Player Information Meeting for 2026–27 Season

MHSHL will host an informational meeting for players and families interested in participating in high school hockey during the 2026–27 season.
The meeting will cover the league’s team assignment process, draft structure, and general expectations for players entering high school hockey within MHSHL.
In-Person Meeting
Tuesday, March 31 – 7:30 PM
Ice Box Skating Rink

South Bend, IN
Who Should Attend
This meeting is intended for any player considering playing high school hockey next season, including:

Current 8th–11th grade students

7th graders who are planning ahead for high school participation

Players currently competing in travel hockey programs

Families who want to learn more about how MHSHL operates
Parents and players are both encouraged to attend.
What Will Be Covered
During the meeting, league representatives will discuss:

The MHSHL draft and team assignment process

How players are placed with high school teams

Important timelines for the 2026–27 season

Opportunities for players across multiple grade levels
Representatives from MHSHL member teams will also be present to answer questions and provide information about their programs.

For those unable to attend in person, a virtual meeting will also be offered.
